Sharp Tongue

Sharp tongue, your words cut me

Spewing venom, thick & suffocating

Covering me in darkness, swallowing all light

I must sharpen my tongue with words of lovingkindness

Cut through the venom and reenter the light

Illuminating the venom it is impotent

Forgiveness, acceptance, letting go – these acts liberate my soul

My time with them is all too brief

Outside their light, my soul weeps
